Finals week is soon approaching

What’s up family! I’m sure many of you are heading to or just leaving service so I won’t take up to much of your time. I just wanted to give everyone an update since many have asked where I’ve been and why the lag in entries. If you didn’t know, I am in school this semester and am approaching finals week. Once I present my case study and PASS my final, I will be back to our regular schedule with posting. Keep me in your thoughts people.

Morning inspiration for you!

Hello family! How productive has your week been? I am hoping it has been the three P’s…… POSITIVE, PROSPEROUS, and PORTENTOUS! If you couldn’t tell, I am in a great mood this wonderful Friday morning. While it is just the beginning of the day here in my town (CST), I have decided that nothing will bring me down today. Today's focus comes from Colossians 3:15 (KJV)- "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful".

I know that you all have experienced those days when it seems that EVERYHTING is coming at you. Works (including the employees) are crazy, family is very demanding of all of you and you still haven’t found time to do the things YOU like. Well today is a new day family! Start putting YOURSELF first…no questions….no excuses. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad (Psalm 118:24)!

I challenge all of you to stop, reflect and take ACTION on the things you want to accomplish today. That can include, reading a good book (I suggest the bible), keeping the stress/negativity to a minimum at your place of employment (thinking positive) or spending time just relaxing in your favorite place in your house or landmark in your city. I promise you that you will feel revived, motivated and ready to take on the world. Be blessed and have a great weekend.

First Day of Class

Earlier this week I eluded to fact that I have decided to enroll in graduate school (again) this spring. This time, my goal is to obtain an MBA, focusing on either International Business or Entrepreneurism. Yesterday was my first day of class and I must admit I was a little nervous. My nerves were a result of a few factors:

~ It's been over 3 years since I've been a student
~ The university I attend is predominantly engineer and science majors
~ The class subject is based on technology and how to use in the business world
~ I am not a tech savvy person

Like I mentioned in my introduction (in class), unless its email, this blog or Microsoft Office (lol), I have no idea what it is or what to do with it. The instructor is very nice and made all of us feel welcomed. Oh...did I mention that it was only 5 students (4 on campus and one distant) in the class? LMAO

So in essence, I really didn't have much to worry about. Lol. Since the class is so intimate, the environment fosters interaction and discussion, rather than boring lectures and quizzes. My first assignment is due next week so I am scrambling to pick a topic. Once I've made a decision on what I will discuss/present, I will let you all know to get your opinion.

I want to take this time to thank all those who contacted me once they got my last entry (mentioning grad school), and wishing me well in this new venture in life. Like most said, I was fine and was probably over prepared for this first class. But that will not stop me in setting the bar high for myself. The goal is to not only pull a GPA of a 4.0, but to also retain some good information to use now in my career and int the future.

I've been gone for a minute...but I WILL be back

Hey Silky Chronicle followers!

I know I've been away for awhile and I apologize for that. Work has been crazy, life has been eventful, but I can’t complain. I am enjoying every minute of it! The semester is almost over (thank goodness) and I recently started classes! Yes people….. Ms Silky is officially back in school and loving every minute of it (I actually I don’t start until tomorrow).

I must say, I was very skeptical at first about enrolling, but after much prayer and parental guidance, here I am…….working towards an MBA (Masters in Business Administration). I will be giving my readers play by play on how the class is going AND if I like the field. As many of you know, I have been working in Higher Education/Business for over six years now. I am highly trained in education, but wanted to get more field knowledge and formal training in the business sector….hence the reasoning for enrolling in MBA classes.

So future subjects of discussion include: the NCAA Final Four, Academics, Spiritual Growth, Friends, Romance (or lack thereof…lol) and Online Communities/Twitter. Until next time folks….
